Occurs around southern New Zealand and abundant on the Campbell Plateau and Pukaki Rise (Ref. 9258). Found at depths between 180 and 800 m but is most abundant at 500 m (Ref. 1371). First record in the Chathams Island (Ref. 45493). Recorded from bottom trawls off the east coast of South Island (Ref. 58461). Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ (Ref. 5755).
